I'm going to start out by saying that I agree; you should play builds that are fun to you. If a meleemancer is fun for you, go ahead, play it. But the fact that Undead Preacher is arguing that this build is as effective as other builds is laughable.

Meleemancer: Shadow Strike + Hundred Blades + Severe Artery + Gash + Vampric Bite + Vampric Gaze
Both chains take about the same amount of time, given the warrior uses an adrenaline booster.. I'll let you do the math... oh and I used the skillbar for the Meleemancer that also uses Bleeding and deep wound, so u the almighty Eviscerate isn't all that powerful .... I own 99% of tanks in pvp, and outlast 99% in pve...

Now the first quote states that he's not as effective as an axe warrior with eviscerate. The 2 quotes that follow seem to suggest that he's just as effective. Interesting...

I think we can agree that this build does not have as much damage potential as a warrior. And yes, I agree, different professions have different strengths and weaknesses. We've pointed out the weaknesses, so what are the strengths? Being the last one alive in the group is not a strength.

Although it's been said numerous times I will repeat it because it is important. 1v1 has no relevance to the power of a build. But despite this fact, you seem so insistant on the point that you can 1v1 any warrior and win. Well congratulations, your build may be able to win 1v1s with warriors, but does not help out a group.
But I'm not going to sit here and critisize your comments, no. I'm going to critique your build.
Your skill bar seems to have a lot of blood, life stealing attacks. This is all well and good, but the DPS of these skills is rather weak unless spammed by a touch ranger or something of that nature. What skills like Vampiric Touch and Vampiric Bite are good for is healing up lost damage while dealing some mediocre damage at the same time.
But as a meleemancer, you should not be taking damage in the first place, so these skills really do not have a place in a meleemancer build. So what other uses are there for extra energy? The curses line has some excellent choices. You can take barbs, which does a set amount of damage that does not depend on your swordsmanship. In addition, it can help out your other warriors and physical damage dealers into dealing more damage. Other skills like Mark of Pain are useful too because of the same reason.
Overall, I think a meleemancer should not be a pure damage dealer. He should be a supportive melee character that can participate in team play. By using curses like barbs and mark of pain, you can not only help your damage, but the damage of the other characters in your party as well.

In case Undead Preacher is still reading this thread for feedback, I appreciate this guide very much, and I'm gonna definitely play it once my necro has the skills unlocked.
The majority of the criticism look like it can be summarized by one sentence: "This meleemancer build has yet to be proven to be as effective as cookie cutter builds in pvp." Some posters are instigating unnecessary hate between members with too many unhelpful words.

Hah. I recently started a new necro, I might give melee combat a try with him, but I'm almost certain I'll go back to just hexing or something within a day. Too used to being a big bad war who is also the last one standing (before he goes down with the rest of the group, naturally) ~_^
Meleemancers 1v1 vs. warriors... hmm are they allowed to be 45-energy Warrior/Mesmers? ^^

I dont understand you guys... He posted guide for meleemancer and u jumped on him like scavanges on a bone...
Who gives a s*** if melemancer is not the strongest build out there... its special build not ment for everyone and fun to play... if u dont like it dont bother with it... I like it because i tried and finished the game with all the builds out there and I became bored with this game.. so i welcome every new suggestion that might be different from the others ( meleemancer is old build BTW ).
you are so childish, started to argue which build is better.. because of ppl like u i dont even bother to play PvP because i have met so many jerks out there telling me how to play...
I ll play the way i want to.. and the funny thing is that ppl like them ( telling me how to play, that build is uber bad, ur suxor... ) usually die before me and than i need to res em...
He just made a guide to a build he likes and works for him.. who is interested in your unconstructive criticism.. Well most of ppl flaming here usualy never made their own builds or even try to work something out.. most of them just use cookie builds and than think thats the only way u can play...
Cmon let him be.. if u have some suggestions write em down and not after few posts u start to correct his grammar, or quote what he said or didnt say.. if u think u have special builds that are much better write them down in another post then and stop getting so personal about everybody and get a life besides virtual one.

There would have been less problems had he made a disclaimer along the lines of "This build is not a replacement for an Axe warrior" or something along those lines.
Except for JR's post on the first page, but then JR hate suboptimal PvP builds.
